When I first had Harry I had no idea what canicross or bikejoring is. I had only seen some sled mushing photos from Internet and that was it. By the time Harry was old enough to train, I had already seen photos and videos of huskies running in front of the bike and I just knew it was something we had to try, since I didn’t like running at that time It was back in 2018 and there was noone around me who was practising dog sports so it was just me and Harry.
Thankfully at this time I already knew Ivailo from Northerhowl, who suggested me the right equipment so I bought harness, bikejoring line and anthena. And then the fun began I honestly had no idea how to do it. At this time I thought huskies were just natural talents and when you put them in front of you, they will run and pull. Of course, it was not that simple
When we started bikejoring in the field, he was indeed in front of the bike, running and a bit pulling but also jumping for mices. I had no idea how to motivate him, how to make him more focused, how to help him build stamina and excitement for pulling.
Thats when I decided to create an instagram account, because I saw there were many experienced people from all over the world sharing their adventures of doing different dog sports and I wanted to learn from them. One of the first accounts I started following was Line and Frida from @teamgoldenpower. I was surprised to see a woman running with a golden retriever and even racing together and in the same time I was admiring them so much for everything they did. Not only canicross workouts but also offleash walks on the beach, woods, etc. I just loved Line’s posts and stories and how honest she was about everything. We shared a view comments and from then on I was following their adventures, canicross trainings and we kept in touch. I was admiring her posts about their social canicross runs and I could see so many different dog breeds who enjoy running with their owners. I was like ‘how amazing is that?”.

I had never tried canicross before so I didnt know what was it about. Meanwhile Harry got neutered /due to health issues/ and his exicitement for running and pulling had lowered. I posted on insta something about this issue asking for help.
Line was one of the few people who gave me great tips how to improve his running and I put it into work for which I am very thankful. When I got my second husky, Amira, I could tell she was not just a crazy puppy. She was crazy for running and pulling.
On our walks I would run a few meters to see how she will do and she was soooo happy and excited. Inspired by Line’s posts, I decided to start training Amira with canicross few months later. First I started running with her for a few hundred meters, intervals, etc and I could tell she loved it. By that time I already knew people who were into dogsports from my area. My friend Irena and Lord were running in front of us so I believe this helped Amira to be motivated and focused from the very beginning.
Then @DogSportsBulgaria was created and it gave me a great opportunity to take Amira there and train with the other teams too. First I started running during the warm-ups with Harry and then with Amira on the actual ones. But there were times when I ran with both of them together on the actual workouts and I could see Harry was getting more motivated to run. Either from Amira, or from the other teams. I got so excited about doing canicross that I actually started participating not only in bikejoring races but also in canicross races too
So to sum it up, Line was one of the first people I knew from instagram and the first one who inspired me about canicross. I had never imagined that one day I will be walking down the streets with her in person or let alone race together.
And that actually happened.
Line and Ragno came to Bulgaria and it just felt so surreal to meet them and spend some time together in real. It was so amazing to see them, go sightseeing and have dinner together and learn from their experience.
It was even more amazing to race with Line so I actually got to see her in action too and got even more inspired by her.
Thank you girls for the lovely time together. Hope to see you again some time soon.
